Dr. Muckerman was born and raised in St. Louis. He attended Georgetown University where he received a B.S. in biology and then Georgetown University School of Medicine for his MD degree.
He completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a long-standing Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists - FACOG.
Dr. Muckerman has maintained an active independent OB/GYN private practice at St. Louis Women's Healthcare Group.
Dr. Muckerman has been instrumental in organizing and developing ancillary services for private independent physician practices in St. Louis: • In 2004, Dr. Muckerman was the Founding Physician and Medical Director of St. Louis Women's Surgery Center, the first women's-only surgery center in the Midwest. • In 2010, Dr. Muckerman was the Founding Physician and Medical Director of St. Louis Breast Center, the only physician owned breast imaging facility in St. Louis.
Dr. Muckerman obtained Genomics certification from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists in 2018. He incorporated medical genetics into his OB/GYN practice to provide personalized preventive healthcare for his patients.
In collaboration with a nationally renowned genetics lab, Dr. Muckerman has developed and implemented Hereditary Cancer Risk Assessment (HCRA) and Breast Cancer Risk Assessment (BCRA) programs in various medical facilities in the St. Louis area: Medical Practices, Breast Centers, and Hospital Systems.
Dr. Muckerman has been married to his wife, Alice, for 47 years. They have three children and eight grandchildren.
